Scrumptious works with block themes and classic themes, and with the block editor. Page builders can show recipes with the [scrumptious id="123"] shortcode (see Shortcodes).

Some parts use newer WordPress features and switch on automatically when they’re available:

  • Recipe page templates you can edit in the Site Editor need WordPress 6.7 or later and a block theme. On older versions or classic themes the recipe card is added to your theme’s normal single-post template instead.
  • WordPress AI (Settings → Connectors) needs WordPress 7.0 or later. Every other AI option works on 6.4+. See Setting up AI.

Install

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for Scrumptious, then click Install Now and Activate.

Or upload the zip: Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose scrumptious.zip, then Install Now and Activate.

What activation does

  • Adds a Recipes menu to wp-admin with All Recipes, Add New Recipe, Courses, Cuisines, Diets, Settings, Import and Setup.
  • Creates one small database table for star ratings (wp_swp_ratings, using your table prefix).
  • Changes nothing on your existing posts or pages.
  • Opens the one-minute setup wizard (first install only).

If another recipe plugin’s recipes are found (WP Recipe Maker, Tasty Recipes or Create by Mediavine), the Recipes screen shows a Moving from …? notice with an Import recipes button. See Switching from another recipe plugin.
