Pick a design
Every design is the same handy layout: recipe name, serves, prep and cook time, who it came from, then ingredients and directions side by side. The back has room to keep going, plus notes.

Retro Kitchen
Teal and tangerine with a little starburst, straight out of a 1960s recipe box.

Farmhouse Gingham
A red gingham strip and a “From the Kitchen” heading. Lovely for family recipes.

Minimal (Ink Saver)
Clean black and white. Uses almost no ink and photocopies well.

Holiday
Holly berries and a dashed red border, for cookie swaps and holiday baking.
How to print your recipe cards
1
Print both pages double-sided and flip on the long edge, so each back lines up with its front. Cardstock (65 to 110 lb, or about 175 to 300 gsm) feels like a real recipe card.
2
Cut
Cut along the corner marks. Each card is a standard 4 x 6 inches, so it fits recipe boxes, photo sleeves and binder pockets.
3
Fill in
Type into the PDF before you print (it works in Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge and Preview on a Mac), or print blank cards and write by hand.
Tip from the kitchen: list ingredients in the order you use them, and keep one action per step. Whoever cooks from your card can work straight down the list. More in how to write a recipe.
Sharing recipes on a food blog?
Skip the template. Scrumptious turns a pasted recipe into a finished recipe card on your WordPress site, with servings scaling, a print button and Google recipe data. It matches your theme, and it is free.
Questions
Are these recipe cards really free?
Yes. Download and print as many as you like for your own kitchen, gifts and family cookbooks. Please don’t resell the files.
Can I type into them?
Yes. Every card is a fillable PDF. Open it in Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge or Preview on a Mac, click a line and type. Then print or save a copy.
What size are they?
Each card is 4 x 6 inches, two to a page. There are US Letter and A4 versions of every design.
Do you have a Word version or a full-page card?
Yes. The recipe card template page has a full-page card and 4×6 cards as fillable PDFs and editable Word files that also open in Google Docs.
What paper should I use?
Cardstock between 65 and 110 lb (about 175 to 300 gsm) works in most home printers and holds up in the kitchen. Plain paper is fine for a binder.
