Recipes in Scrumptious are written inside your post, in the block editor. You never leave the post you’re writing.

1. Add the Recipe Card block

  1. Open a post (or create one) in the block editor.
  2. Click + (Block Inserter) where you want the recipe, and search for Recipe Card.
  3. The block shows two choices:
  4. Create new recipe — starts an empty recipe.
  5. Or insert an existing recipe — search your recipes by name and pick one.

2. Fill it in

Type straight into the card: name, description, times, servings, ingredients, instructions and notes. See The recipe editor for every field.

Tip: Have the recipe written somewhere already? Click Paste & Parse at the top of the empty card and paste the whole thing — it fills everything in for you. See Paste & Parse.

Add a photo in the block sidebar under Recipe image. Google needs an image to show your recipe as a rich result.

3. Your changes save themselves

The recipe saves automatically a moment after you stop typing. The small status line at the top right of the card shows Saving…, Unsaved changes or All changes saved.

Publishing or updating the post publishes the post as usual. The recipe itself is already saved.

4. Check it

Preview the post. You’ll see the recipe card with its buttons (Print recipe, Cook mode), servings scaling, US/Metric switch and star rating — whichever you’ve turned on in Settings.

Where the recipe lives

Each recipe is saved as its own item under Recipes → All Recipes. That means:

  • You can put the same recipe in more than one post (insert it as an existing recipe). Edit it once and every post updates.
  • Recipes survive a theme change.
  • The Used in column on All Recipes shows which posts show each recipe, and the View in “…” link takes you straight to it.

You can also create and edit recipes directly from Recipes → Add New Recipe. It’s the same editor.
