Switching from WP Recipe Maker, Tasty Recipes or Create
Import your recipes, update your posts, check the results, undo if needed, and retire the old plugin.

Scrumptious imports recipes from:
- WP Recipe Maker (free and premium)
- Tasty Recipes (and Tasty Recipes Lite)
- Create by Mediavine (recipe cards)
Your original recipes are never changed or deleted, and changes to your posts can be undone. It works even if the old plugin is already deactivated.
Before you start
- Back up your site. The import is safe and undoable, but a backup is good practice before any big change.
- Big site? Try it on a staging copy first if your host offers one.
- Leave the old plugin installed (active or not) until you’re happy.
Run the import
- Go to Recipes → Import. (A Moving from …? notice on the Recipes screen links there too.)
- Each plugin with recipes on your site has a card showing how many recipes were found, how many are already imported, and how many posts show them.
- Keep Replace [plugin] cards in my posts with Scrumptious cards ticked (recommended).
- Click Import recipes.
- A progress bar shows Importing recipes… 12 of 240, then Updating posts….
- When it finishes: Done. 240 imported, 0 already imported, 0 could not be read. 198 posts updated. Any recipes that couldn’t be read are listed underneath.
It works in small batches, so it won’t time out on big sites. Keep the tab open until it finishes. If you close it early, just click the button again: recipes already imported are skipped.

Not imported:
- WP Recipe Maker equipment lists, custom time labels (the time itself is kept as Rest), ingredient links and “tips” styling (tips become normal steps starting with Tip:).
- Links inside Tasty Recipes ingredient lines (the text is kept).
- Create lists and how-to cards (only recipe cards are imported).
- Reviews and comments stay as normal WordPress comments on your posts; they’re not moved.
After import, ingredient amounts are re-read by Scrumptious so scaling and unit conversion work. Check a few recipes with unusual ingredient lines.
What happens to your posts
With Replace … cards ticked, each post that showed an old recipe is updated to show the Scrumptious card in the same place:

The rest of each post is untouched. The original content of every changed post is saved so you can undo.
Check the results
- Open a few posts, including older ones and ones written in the classic editor.
- Check the card, the ingredient amounts and the Jump to Recipe button.
- Run one or two through Google’s Rich Results Test.
Undo
On Recipes → Import, click Undo post changes (N) on that plugin’s card and confirm. Every changed post gets its original content back. Imported Scrumptious recipes are kept (delete them from Recipes → All Recipes if you don’t want them).
You can import again afterwards.
Retire the old plugin
When you’re happy:
- Deactivate the old plugin. Keep it installed for a few weeks in case you want to undo.
- If the old plugin output recipe structured data, deactivating it stops that. If you keep it active for a while, turn off Scrumptious’s recipe data temporarily to avoid duplicates (see Google recipe data).
- Watch Google Search Console’s Recipes report over the next couple of weeks.
Running it again
The import can be run any time. Recipes already imported are skipped (the button says Import remaining recipes or Check again (skips recipes already imported)), so it’s safe to re-run after adding recipes in the old plugin.
